Casa La Barra prides itself on being a low-volume tour operator, which allows us to offer a great deal of flexibility to our customers. Because of this, we custom design each and every tour that we offer. Although that means that we have some downtime during our high season from April through September, it is worth it to offer our clients exactly what they want. Therefore, you may start your tour on any day of the week you would like. We only ask that your all-inclusive tour last a minimum of 5 days, but it can be as long as you would like.

Casa La Barra offers online bookings, you can search dates, rooms and tours directly from our booking tabs on the website. When booking you will be asked to leave a 25% deposit, these deposits are non-refundable within a 120 day of arrival, it is recommended you purchase travel insurance if it is in your budget.

If you’re ready to learn, pack your bags for mid-November through mid-March. This is our favorite time for beginners because the swells dial back, giving us a massive playground of smaller, cleaner waves to practice on. Your confidence and wave count will skyrocket.

Now, if you visit during our heavy swell season from April to October, the ocean can get downright massive. We’ve guided plenty of stoked intermediates to the biggest waves of their lives then, but for a fun, stress-free start, the winter months are pure magic. Let’s get you up and riding!

Central Nicaragua’s weather is spectacular. Our green season (May to October) mirrors peak swell season, but don't let "rainy" fool you—it usually means a refreshing afternoon shower sandwiched between glorious sunshine. Expect sunny 90°F days and beautiful, warm water.

Traveling to Nicaragua with a surfboard is easy when staying at Casa La Barra Surf Resort. Pack your board in a padded travel bag, remove the fins, and protect the nose and tail with extra clothing or foam. Confirm your airline's surfboard baggage policy before departure to avoid unexpected fees. Once you arrive, Casa La Barra provides airport transfers, so you won't need to arrange extra transportation for your board. Bringing one versatile board is ideal, although the resort also offers a wide selection of rental boards if you prefer to travel light. This lets you focus on enjoying Central Nicaragua's uncrowded, world-class waves.

You can use U.S. Currency or Exchange your cash to the local currency but bring small and large bills. The only thing you pay for at Casa La Barra is the bar and gratuity for the staff you will want to tip them. We do take credit cards for the bar but we do add IVA Tax. Suggested gratuity for the staff is 20% of your trip, you can tip what you want but the team will work extremely hard to ensure you have an epic time during your stay in Central Nicaragua. Local businesses will not accept any bills with tears or rips in them, please bring clean bills only.
